Kolokolo

The name of this homestead comes from the Kolokolo bird in Rudyard Kiplings ‘Just So’ stories. “Go to the banks of the great grey-green greasy Limpopo River, all set about with fever-trees”. This hint of nostalgia, along side ‘romantic africa’ and the necessary creature comforts is at the core of Kolokolo Homestead’s design.

The muted colour palette mirrors the tones visible in the landscape. Laden with texture and interesting combinations of materials and accessories that are used to complimented the home’s bountiful structure and use of space. Kolokolo has been described as homely and luxurious, a design that plays on ‘a world gone by.’
